What Makes Our Reconditioned Totes Stand Out
Reconditioning is only as good as the process behind it. Here's what separates our refurbished IBC tanks from the competition.
12-Point Quality Check
Every single reconditioned unit passes a comprehensive inspection covering bottle clarity, cage integrity, valve function, gasket seal, pallet strength, cap fit, label accuracy, pressure test, cleanliness verification, cosmetic grading, tracking number assignment, and final sign-off.
6-Month Warranty
We stand behind our reconditioning work with a 6-month warranty covering valve failure, gasket leaks, and structural defects under normal use. If something goes wrong, we replace it — no questions asked.
Full Traceability
Every reconditioned tote carries a unique tracking number tied to its complete service history: sourcing origin, previous contents, cleaning method, test results, and reconditioning date. Full documentation available on request.
FDA-Compliant Process
Our cleaning agents and procedures comply with FDA 21 CFR regulations for indirect food contact surfaces. Food-grade reconditioned totes are suitable for food processing, beverage production, and potable water storage applications.
The 12-Point Quality Checklist
Every reconditioned tote must pass all 12 checkpoints before it is cleared for sale. Here is exactly what our senior technicians evaluate.
Bottle Integrity
Visual and tactile inspection of the HDPE bottle for cracks, stress marks, thin spots, punctures, and UV degradation. The bottle must be free of any structural compromise that could lead to leakage or failure under load.
Bottle Cleanliness
Interior and exterior surfaces inspected for residual contamination, odor, staining, and biological growth. Food-grade units must pass a visual cleanliness test and an odor test confirming no detectable scent from previous contents.
Bottle Clarity
Translucency assessment to confirm the bottle allows visual liquid level monitoring. Graded from clear (Grade A) to opaque (Grade C) with documented classification on the final label.
Cage Structural Integrity
All cage tubing, mesh panels, cross-bars, corner joints, and welds inspected for dents, bends, breaks, and corrosion. The cage must provide uniform support to the bottle under maximum fill weight and safe stacking conditions.
Cage Cosmetic Condition
Surface condition assessment including paint adhesion, zinc coating integrity, rust presence, and label/sticker residue. Cages are cleaned and degreased as part of the reconditioning process.
Valve Function
Brand-new valve installed and tested for smooth operation (quarter-turn for butterfly, full rotation for ball), positive shut-off, and leak-free seal. Valve must open and close without binding, dripping, or excessive force.
Gasket Seal
New EPDM or Viton gaskets installed at the valve and fill cap. Gaskets inspected for proper seating, compression, and seal integrity. No visible gaps, pinching, or misalignment permitted.
Fill Cap Fit
New vented fill cap threaded onto the bottle and tested for proper engagement, gasket compression, and vent function. Cap must thread smoothly without cross-threading and create a liquid-tight seal when closed.
Pallet Condition
Pallet inspected for cracks, splits, rot (wood), warping, broken runners, and secure attachment to the cage base. All pallets must support maximum fill weight and provide 4-way forklift entry without obstruction.
Pressure Test Pass
Hydrostatic pressure test at 1.5x rated capacity for minimum 30 minutes with zero detectable seepage at any point — valve, cap, seams, and bottle body. Test results documented with timestamp and technician signature.
Tracking Number
Unique alphanumeric tracking number assigned and affixed to the tote, linking to the complete reconditioning record in our database. This number enables full traceability from source through sale.
Final Sign-Off
Senior technician reviews all 11 preceding checkpoints, confirms compliance, signs the quality assurance record, and clears the tote for inventory. Any deficiency requires the tote to be rerouted for correction before re-inspection.
The 8-Step Reconditioning Process
From intake to final inspection, here is exactly what happens to every IBC tote that goes through our reconditioning line.
Intake & Assessment
Every incoming tote is photographed, cataloged, and assessed by our technicians. We record previous contents, check manufacturing date codes, and evaluate the HDPE bottle, galvanized steel cage, pallet, valve, and cap for damage or excessive wear. Totes that don't meet our reconditioning threshold are routed to our material recycling stream instead.
Disassembly
The tote is fully disassembled: bottle is removed from the cage, valve and cap are detached, gaskets are discarded, and the pallet is separated. This allows us to inspect and clean every component individually — something quick-wash operations simply cannot achieve.
Triple-Stage Cleaning
The HDPE bottle goes through our proprietary three-stage wash: a high-pressure hot water pre-rinse to remove bulk residue, an FDA-approved alkaline detergent wash at 160 degrees Fahrenheit to break down organic and chemical films, and a final sanitizing rinse with food-safe agents. The process uses 15 gallons of water per tote — 99% less than manufacturing a new one.
Cage Straightening & Repair
The galvanized steel cage is inspected for dents, bent tubing, weld failures, and rust. Minor dents are hydraulically straightened. Damaged mesh panels or cross-bars are replaced. The cage is then cleaned, degreased, and checked to ensure it provides uniform support to the bottle under full-load conditions.
Pallet Inspection & Replacement
Wood, composite, and steel pallets are checked for cracks, splits, rot, and structural integrity. Damaged pallets are replaced with new or certified refurbished units that meet ISPM-15 standards for international shipping. Pallet runners and forklift channels are verified for safe handling.
New Valve, Cap & Gaskets
Every reconditioned tote receives a brand-new 2" NPS butterfly or ball valve, a new 6" or 8" vented fill cap, and fresh EPDM or Viton gaskets throughout. We never reuse valves or gaskets — this ensures a leak-free seal and smooth operation from day one.
Hydrostatic Pressure Testing
The fully reassembled tote is filled with water and pressurized to 1.5x its rated capacity (typically 2.5 PSI above atmospheric). We monitor for leaks at the valve, cap, and all seam points for a minimum of 30 minutes. Any tote that shows even micro-seepage is pulled from the line and re-serviced or recycled.
Final Inspection & Labeling
A senior technician performs our 12-point quality checklist covering structural integrity, cleanliness, valve operation, cap seal, pallet condition, cage alignment, and cosmetic appearance. Each tote receives a reconditioning date label, a unique tracking number, and our quality assurance stamp before being cleared for sale.

6-Month Warranty Details
We stand behind every reconditioned tote we sell. Here is exactly what our warranty covers — and what falls outside its scope.
What's Covered
Valve Failure
If the new valve installed during reconditioning fails, leaks, or becomes inoperable under normal use within 6 months, we replace the entire valve assembly at no cost. This covers manufacturing defects, seal failure, and handle breakage.
Gasket Leaks
If any gasket installed during reconditioning develops a leak under normal operating conditions within 6 months, we replace the gasket and reseal the connection at no charge. This covers both the valve gasket and fill cap gasket.
Structural Defects
If a structural defect in the bottle, cage, or pallet that was not apparent during our 12-point inspection manifests within 6 months under normal use, we replace the tote entirely. This includes stress cracks, weld failures, and pallet breakage.
Pressure Test Integrity
If a reconditioned tote that passed our hydrostatic pressure test develops a leak at any tested point within 6 months under normal operating conditions (ambient pressure, within rated temperature range), we replace the unit.
What's Not Covered
Misuse and Abuse
Damage caused by overfilling, overpressurization, impact, dropping, chemical incompatibility, freezing without protection, exceeding temperature ratings, or any use outside the tote's rated specifications.
Normal Wear
Cosmetic changes over time including bottle discoloration from UV exposure, minor cage surface rust from outdoor use, and pallet wear from forklift handling. These do not affect function and are expected over the service life of any IBC container.

Environmental Impact of Choosing Reconditioned
Reconditioned Tote FAQ
Are reconditioned totes safe for food and beverage use?
Yes. Our food-grade reconditioned totes go through an FDA-compliant triple-stage cleaning process using food-safe detergents and sanitizers. They are suitable for food processing, beverage production, potable water storage, and any application requiring FDA 21 CFR compliance for indirect food contact surfaces. Full cleaning documentation is available on request.
How long does reconditioning take?
Standard turnaround is 3-7 business days for small orders (1-10 units) and 10-25 business days for larger orders (50+ units). We maintain a rotating inventory of pre-reconditioned units for immediate availability. Rush processing is available at a 25-30% surcharge for time-sensitive orders.
Can I request specific valve types or upgrades?
Yes. Standard reconditioning includes a new polypropylene butterfly valve. Upgrades available include full-port ball valves, stainless steel valves (304 or 316), camlock-ready valve assemblies, and custom adapter configurations. Valve upgrades are priced individually — contact us for a quote.
What happens if a reconditioned tote fails?
Our 6-month warranty covers valve failure, gasket leaks, structural defects, and pressure integrity issues under normal use. If a covered issue occurs, contact us and we will replace the tote or the affected component at no charge. No questions asked, no fine print, no hassle.
Can I send my own used totes for reconditioning?
Yes. We offer toll reconditioning services where we process your totes using our 8-step reconditioning line and return them to you. Pricing for toll reconditioning depends on the condition of the incoming totes and the required grade of reconditioning. Contact us with quantities and condition details for a toll reconditioning quote.
Is reconditioning worth the extra cost over used totes?
It depends on your application. If you need food-grade compliance, documented cleanliness, new hardware, pressure testing, and a warranty, reconditioned is the clear choice. If you need budget-friendly containers for general storage, waste collection, or non-critical applications, used totes deliver excellent value. Many customers use a mix — reconditioned for critical processes and used for everything else.
Do reconditioned totes look new?
Our reconditioned totes are graded as near-new in appearance. The HDPE bottle is thoroughly cleaned and may show very light tint depending on previous contents. The cage is straightened and cleaned. The valve, cap, and gaskets are brand new. Most customers find our reconditioned totes visually indistinguishable from new units, especially Grade A bottles.
What cleaning chemicals do you use?
Our food-grade cleaning line uses FDA-approved alkaline detergents at 160 degrees Fahrenheit, followed by a food-safe sanitizing rinse. Our industrial cleaning line uses commercial-grade degreasers and hot water. Our chemical line uses neutralization agents specific to the previous contents. All cleaning agents are thoroughly rinsed and no residual chemicals remain in the finished tote.
